Saddle Tree Gullet measurements, easily done incorrectly

Measuring a gullet of a made or completed saddle can be very easy to do INCORRECTLY. When measuring a gullet and sharing pictures on social media I have seen many many pictures where some people have either intentionally miss-measured or they have just messed up all together. When taking close up pictures of rulers it is very easy to slide the ruler to the side one way or the other and give a false measurement. Buyers beware is all I can say. GO MEASURE FOR YOURSELF or ask a local saddle maker to help you out to make sure you know exactly what you are getting. Gullets can be a very wide range on measurements depending on what the tree was originally built for. And this is my OPINION, but modifying any gullet width with leather wedges under the skirting is foolish and asking for problems. This creates unknown and uneven pressure points and changes way more angles than you have any clue about. You are way better off to find a saddle that fits your needs or get one made by a reputable builder.
